The African Christian Democratic Party on Wednesday said children must be discouraged from having sex regardless of age.

This follows a ruling made yesterday by the Pretoria High Court against certain sections of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act.

The case was brought by the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children.

ACDP President Kenneth Meshoe said the act aims to punish display of sexual transgressions against children by outlawing tactics, such as the sexual grooming of children which are employed by paedophiles.

Meshoe added that children of all ages not only between 12 and 16 should be discouraged from having sex and should be taught in school and at home that sex for children is wrong and immoral.
