Minister Blade Nzimande will set up a monitoring committee team

The Minister of Higher Education and Training Blade Nzimande is expected to announce the establishment of an oversight Committee on Transformation in South African Universities on Wednesday. 

The Committee is expected to monitor progress on transformation in public universities and advise the Minister on policy relating to issues such as racism, sexism and other forms of unfair discrimination. 

Departmental Spokesperson Vuyelwa Qinga said a committee that was set up by Minister Naledi Pandor to conduct an investigation around issues of racism and sexism came to a conclusion that there is a need to set up this committee.

Qinga added that this committee will also focus on the policy issues of each an every university in the country.
