The Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West has expressed its disappointment at the reaction and attitude of farmers, who are retrenching workers due to sectoral determination amendment on wages.

It has been reported that farmers around Lichtenberg are retrenching workers and are employing cheap labour outside.

Cosatu’s North West Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe said all that farmers are doing is undermining the laws of this country and the constitutional rights of those workers.

Phetoe adds it must be clear that is not retrenchment is now unfair dismissal.

Phetoe furthmore adds that they are calling all farm workers who are retrenched unfairly or dismissed unfairly to report to unions or to the federation and Department of Labour.
