The Democratic Alliance today said they are calling for the immediate resignation of North West Social Development MEC Mosetsanagape Mokomele-Mothibi for a luxury spending spree at the ANC’s Mangaung conference last year.

MEC Mokomele-Mothibi appeared in the legislature’s Public Accounts committee today to respond to documents detailing luxury hotel bills up to R5000 a day.

DA Leader in the North West Chris Hattingh said the public accounts committee on Tuesday heard that MEC Mothibi has apologised and has undertook to repay all the money within 7 days.

Hattingh said that they have however called for her resignation, as she has clearly lost the confidence of the provincial legislature the public accounts committee and certainly also the council of the North West.

Hattingh adds that they hope that the premier will put to affect her very frequent calls for no corruption.
