The first Princess Vlei campaign was held on Saturday, with the community members talking about the future of the Vlei.

The campaign aims to engage communities in imagining how Princess Vlei can be transformed into an innovative space that honours our natural and cultural heritage.

Princess Vlei Forum’s Kelvin Cochrane said the World Design Capital initiative to be hosted in Cape Town in 2014 provides a good opportunity to deepen and promote the community’s vision of the vlei.

Cochrane said they have also launched the Grassy Park as the wetlands capital of the city and they intend to do a draft of the whole of Princess Vlei and  Grassy Park area.
