On Wednesday the Bargaining Council between the South African Bus Employers Association and the unions are still deciding if they will accept the employer's wage hike offer of a 9% increase.
On Wednesday the South African
Communist Party says it supports Satawu in their struggle for better life of
the working class.
Satawu's Vincent Masoga said the
union today is meeting with the members to discuss the offer that has been
given by the employers and then a decision would be taken from there.
Meanwhile the African Christian
Democratic Party in the Western Cape has
called on unions and employers at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation
and Arbitration to speedily resolve the bus drivers strike.
ACDP’s Provincial Spokesperson
Ferlon Christian said the strike also impacts negatively on productivity at
work due to high levels of absenteeism and late coming.
Christian said government need to
intervene in this metter because at the end of the day an agreement needs to
reached between the employers and employees.
