The Democratic Alliance Leader Helen Zille on Saturday said the youth had grown disillusioned with politics after 1994.

She was speaking at the party's youth elective conference in Johannesburg.

She said this was a crucial milestone, and the struggle for democracy and freedom was never finally won.

Zille pointed out the party's plans to reclaim its role in the history of the liberation struggle.

DA Spokesperson Cameron Arendse said significant majority of South Africans are below the age of 35 years, and the great challenge is that those people are not participating in politics and are not active in their communities.
