SJC: City’s chemical toilet audit puzzling

The Social Justice Coalition said it has noted the City of Cape Town’s response to the chemical toilet audit that said the audit was puzzling and misdirected.

SJC said contrary to the City’s statement the exercise focussed on an outsourced provider of chemical toilets and the failure of Mshengu Services to deliver the services outlined in the contract.

SJC’s Axolile Notywala said the response from the City is more general about sanitation issues, the difficulty in providing sanitation facilities to dense locations.

“The existing facilities that are not monitored and that shows a lot of wasteful expenditure, because the City spends a lot of money in providing those toilets” Notywala added.
