A head-on collision claims 9 lives in Margate

Nine people died and 14 were injured when a bakkie and a minibus taxi collided head-on near Margate in KwaZulu-Natal, late last night.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said when they arrived at the scene they found that occupants were still trapped in the wreckage

“Eight people died at the scene of the accident on the R61 and another person died shortly after.

Further six was in critically condition while eight sustained serious injuries” Botha added.

He concluded by saying that they were all treated on scene and then, transported to various hospitals for further care.
