Yesterday afternoon NSRI Strandfontein were called out in order to join LSA Lifeguards, Police and Law Enforcement officers who had initiated a search for a 16 year old male reported to have disappeared in the surf while swimming at Mnandi Beach.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says “he was swimming with three friends, when they reported that he suddenly disappeared under the water.”
The Metro Red Cross AMS helicopter, Metro Ambulance and Rescue Services, Metro Police and the Police Dive Unit joined in and conducted an extensive search throughout the afternoon.
“Today the search continues for the 16-year-old boy, who is presumed to have drowned and also for a 22-year-old male who went missing at 9 Mile Beach yesterday,” said Lambinon
