Gugulethu police are urging truck drivers and delivery vehicle drivers to report to police before embarking on a trip. This comes after numerous reports from truck drivers who lodged complaints of being robbed.
“Apparently some of the delivery vehicles don’t have padlocks to lock the rear door. This makes it easier for young boys at robots to open them up and grab whatever they can,” said Gugulethu police department’s Captain Elliot Sinyangana.
“Our concern is that they don’t contact police immediately. Drivers usually come two or three hours later to report the robbery,” he said.
Police are appealing to drivers who are robbed to report the incidents immediately, as delays would make it more difficult to find perpetrators.
