Nine people were injured in an accident yesterday evening on the N1, in the direction of Worcester.
A bakkie was towing a trailer when it overturned.
When emergency services arrived on the accident scene, they found the bakkie lying on its side.
Emergency Rescue 24 spokesperson for the Western Cape, Tristan Wadeley says of the nine injured, one was in a critical condition, four sustained moderate injuries and the other four sustained minor injuries.
“The critical patient was a girl around the age of 12 years old, who sustained a suspected head injury.”
Wadeley said the girl’s condition deteriorated on the scene and paramedics, with the assistance of a Metro doctor, carried out advanced life support resuscitation.
“The crew managed to get a pulse back on the girl and she was rushed by ER24 ambulance to Paarl Provincial Hospital.”
The remaining eight patients were also taken to the same hospital by Metro EMS ambulances.
