President-in-waiting Jacob Zuma is expected to announce his Cabinet soon after his inauguration as president this weekend.
The President is expected to appoint his new Cabinet by Sunday, the 10th of May.
The newly appointed Cabinet members are expected to be sworn in as Ministers and Deputy Ministers on Monday in Pretoria.
Zuma will be elected by members of the National Assembly today and will be President elect until he is sworn in.
President Kgalema Motlanthe will remain President of the Republic until the new president assumes office on Saturday.
Government spokesperson Themba Maseko says preparations for Zuma’s inauguration are proceeding according to plan and about 5-thousand dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony at the Union Buildings.
