Armed robbery leaves two dead and woman raped

Police are investigating a case of murder and rape, after an armed robbery at a shebeen in Cossovo, Samora Machel.

Early yesterday morning, three men armed with firearms and a knife, entered the shebeen and robbed customers.

A 25 year old man tried to resist the suspects’ instructions, but was fatally wounded after being shot. The suspects fled the scene on foot with three cellphones.

The suspects later followed a woman home, who was also at the shebeen. The men knocked on the door of her house and she opened the door, thinking it was her boyfriend. The suspects grabbed the woman and took her to one of their shacks where two suspects raped her.

The woman managed to escape from the suspects. When police later arrived at the rape scene they found some of the woman’s clothes still in the shack.

Police also found one of the three suspects dead inside his shack with an open wound to his face. It is not clear how he was killed.

Two other suspects have been identified and police are searching for them.
