Parliament’s portfolio committee on Correctional Services will visit two of the Western Cape’s prisons.
This forms part of the committee’s oversight role and will enable them to perform better.
In a media statement chairperson of the committee, Vincent Smith, said the visit will also familiarize committee members with practical matters of correctional facilities in the country.
Pollsmoor Correctional Centre will be visited today and Malmesbury Correctional Centre tomorrow.
Smith concluded that the committee will meet with the department later in the month .
