The Department of Health says the recent death of a 44 year old Durban man cannot be linked to swine flu.
According to a statement released by the department, “ tests were done in a private laboratory and a specimen was sent to the Institute of Communicable Diseases to determine the cause of death.”
“Due to the insufficient specimen, the cause of death could not be conclusively linked to H1N1.”
The man developed bronchitis and suffered respiratory pain, and died in the Mount Edgecombe Hospital last Thursday.
The Department is following up on all contacts the man had before he became ill.
The death of 22-year-old Stellenbosch University student, Ruan Muller has been linked to swine flu.
