The Federation of Unions of South Africa has condemned the 11 percentage hike on TV license announced by the SABC.
FEDUSA believes the increase was done in bad faith because there were no consultations with labour organisations.
It has been reported that the national broadcasters is in R800 million deficit. The SABC said the money generated from TV license will be used to mobiles local radio and TV programmes.
“We are concerned about the new increase as to who is this money going to befit, people have been paying their TV licenses but they don’t the service they paid for,”
“Our concern basically is that people might be putting their money into a bottomless pit, the financial side of SABC is in total chaos they must get their affairs right before they could ask for more money from other people” said FEDUSA General Secretary Dennis George.
