One person was left dead after a truck overturned on the West Coast road at the Atlantis turn-off yesterday afternoon.

“The deceased, believed to be the driver of the truck was dead on arrival of emergency services.

“He was trapped under the truck and a rescue crane from Metro Rescue was called in to assist in recovery operations,” said ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley.

The R27 was closed leaving Cape Town while emergency services worked on scene. A “stop and go” system was used to move traffic around the accident.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by police.
