Classes at Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Cape Town (formerly known as Cape Technikon) have been suspended.
This follows after students at the institution’s campuses raided the premises while protesting over fee increments.
Thami Nkwanyane media relations officer at the institution says the executive management suspended the classes following three days of protest action by students.
“The executive management of the institution took this decision after the three day protest by students”, said Nkwanyane.
He however warns that the suspension is only for few days.
“The classes will only be suspended on today and Friday. And lectures on other CPUT campuses will continue as normal,” he concluded.

I understand the grievances but I dont undastand the violence. Damaging property only means CPUT needs more money to fix things. Money we as students hav to pay! Protest if have to, but please stop the violence! NWA
