Skhoma Butchery’s legal representatives will now sit down with the High Court Judge in an attempt to set aside the eviction order, after West Side and Mzoli Properties have broken most of the conditions dictated by the Western Cape High Court.
Few days ago bulldozers came with police and demolished part of Skhoma Butchery in Gugulethu to make way for the controversial Gugulethu Square Mall.
They had demolished the Butchery's sitting area, their braai area, and the toilets before they were able to be stopped.
Anti Eviction Campaign Chairperson Mncedisi Twalo says there is a least agreement that is supposed to be signed by both parties, where they can agree on how they are going to work together.
“The owner of the butchery does not have the alternative space to place the butchery and the space West Side and Mzoli Properties they provide is too small,” said Twalo.
The advocates for the both parties are to meet again to make sure that the butchery is ‘the part and parcel’ of the mall.
