The African National Congress Youth League plans to meet the Advertising Standards Authority soon to discuss its demand for a complete ban on alcohol advertisements.
Spokesperson Floyd Shivambu says the call is linked to the broader campaign to reduce the consumption and abuse of alcohol, drugs and other substances.
The league says the abuse of intoxicating substances and alcohol in particular does not only negatively affect individuals, but leads to other grave social ills such as crime and the rapid spread of HIV and Aids.
