Full body scanners for SA’s airports scrapped

The Airports Company of South Africa has announced that airports in South Africa will not be equipped with full body scanners in the near future.

However, spokesperson Nicky Knapp says Acsa has a plan in place for increased security.

Knapp points out that passengers travelling through an Acsa airport in the immediate future will not experience any new safety and security procedures.

The announcement comes after security measures at airports across the world have been stepped up.

This is since a thwarted Christmas Day terrorist attack aboard a plane heading to the United States.
