The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra is starting the new year on a high note.
The National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund has injected R36 million into the orchestra.
Spokesperson for the JPO, Bridget van Oerle, says the funding is aimed at the orchestra’s four seasons of symphony concerts per year.
The funding will also be used to assist the JPO in its education projects for the next three years.
The JPO’s first six-week symphony season for 2010 starts on the 10th of February and will continue until the 18th of March.
