A motorcyclist died after crashing his bike into a pole and a brick wall at the intersection of Herschel Road and Braille Road in Belhar at the weekend.
The 36 year old man was in a critical condition on arrival of emergency services.
Paramedics worked quickly to stabilise the man on scene before transporting him to hospital.
“The patient's condition deteriorated on the way to the hospital and CPR was initiated in the back of the ambulance,” says ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley.
The patient was transported to Tygerberg Hospital where resuscitation attempts continued, but the man was later declared dead.
The cause of the incident is being investigated.
