Paarl police and neighboring police stations executed a serious of crime prevention operations over the weekend with a total of 406 police officers deployed during these operations.
The aim of the operation was to address drug trafficking, tracing of wanted suspects on outstanding warrants, shebeen control, execution of search warrants and various roadblocks.
During these operations various illegal items, traffic fines and 71 arrests were made.
Captain Thembela Mqudlwa says the operation resulted in the “absenteeism of serious crimes and the reporting of less serious offences during the operation period”.
A total of 106 roadblocks and vehicle check points were executed , 71 shebeens visited were visited, 2743 people were search warrants were executed and 2262 litres of alcohol was confiscated at shebeens.
Captain Thembela Mqudlwa says police will continue to crack down on offences.
“Criminals can expect many more similar operations and actions in the days to come, as these operations will be the order of the day, until we are satisfied with the crime situation,” said Mqudlwa.
