Cosatu ignores ANC’s tongue lashing

Despite being publicly admonished about its vocal criticism of the African National Congress, alliance partner Cosatu has once again today lashed out at elements in the ruling party.

The trade union federation’s Zwelinzima Vavi spoke at the clothing and textile workers’ union, Sactwu’s, bargaining conference in Durban and again slammed what he called a small right-wing tendency in the ANC leadership which he says is led by materialists and tenderpreneurs.

According to newsflash, he did not name names, but said the culprits use their positions to enrich themselves and turn the country into a predator state.

Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League has joined the war of words between the ANC and Cosatu.

The league has accused the trade union federation of fighting narrow factional battles.

It wants ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe to disassociate himself from what calls attacks by Cosatu leaders in his name.

The ANC publicly lambasted Cosatu yesterday, saying it was treating the party as if it was a baby and unable to conduct its own affairs.
