23 people are reported to have died when their bus crashed near Touwsrivier this morning.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 5am this morning when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle.
Captain Johannes Scheepers from the De Doorns police station says details are sketchy at this point, and it is not yet clear how many people are injured.
It is understood the 50-seater bus was en route from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down an embankment into oncoming traffic.
Traffic spokesperson Spokesman Xenophone Wentzel said traffic officers responded to the accident scene just before 6am.
