The driver of the bus that crashed on the Hex River pass in the Boland is appearing in court in Touw’s River this morning. The 40-year-old man arrested in the Worcester Hospital.
Police spokesperson Captain Federick van Wyk said the driver was arrested and charged with culpable homicide after he received treatment at Worcester hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
"He was taken back to the hospital at 8am for counselling. Then after that he appeared at the Touws River Periodical Court."
Van Wyk said the death toll had not gone up to 28 as it was earlier reported.
Ten people, including two children, remain in a serious condition in hospital.
