Public Enterprise Portfolio Committee has called on all relevant parties that are involved in the Transnet wage dispute to find a solution very soon.

Chairperson of the committee Vetyjie Mentor urged both unions and Transnet to find one another to resolve the concerns that led to the strike action.

Two unions, South African Transport and Allied Workers Union and United Transport and Allied Trade Union, downed tools on Monday after Transnet said it could not afford the 15 percent across-the-board increase workers were demanding.

The company is offering 11 percent.

She added that finding a solution for the strike will be good for all the parties as a prolonged strike might have damaging results for the economy.
