During Metro Police’s weekend operations 58 people saw themselves behind bars for various offences ranging from drug dealing, public drinking and riotous behaviour.
Spokesperson Yolanda Faro says on Friday their members arrested nine people in Atlantis and Fisantekraal.
In Mannenberg officers resumed “Operation Razor” which nabbed suspect with16 units of heroin.
Faro adds in Woodstock the focus shifted to routine vehicle and foot patrols as well as the execution of search warrants.
“The area is adjacent to the city bowl and drug pedlars use every opportunity carry out their illegal activities in the central city. We endeavour to combat drug dealing and abuse at all cost and with the 2010 Soccer World Cup just over a month away,” she said.
Faro therefore said they will increase patrols in Woodstock and surrounding areas.
