Police have arrested eight suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms in a foiled robbery in Lower Cross Road, Philippi-East.
The police were responding to a tip off regarding a planned armed robbery at a business premise in Lower Cross Road.
When they arrived at the premises they arrested eight suspects inside an informal house, in possession of three pistols, one revolver and an undisclosed amount of money.
It was later established that one of the suspects is wanted in another armed robbery case.
The suspects aged between 17 and 42 from Mfuleni, Guguletu, Muizenberg and Philippi-East will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once they have been charge.
