Lusanda Bill
08 June 2011
Justice Minister Jeff Radebe has confirmed that government will only continue to pay Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe’s legal fees.
This is with condition that Hlophe agrees to repay the 10-and-a-half-million-Rands he has received so far, should he lose his Constitutional Court appeals.
Hlophe's legal anguish began almost three years ago.
This is when Constitutional Court judges Bess Nkabinde and Chris Jafta complained that he had tried to influence them, to rule in favour of President Jacob Zuma in an arms deal-related case.
