The Free State High Court has heard that Lindley farm murder accused Tshekolo Letlala was given 700-Rands to spend on alcohol the night of the killing of the Potgieter family.
Letlala told the court his brother-in-law and co-accused Paulus Khumalo told him they would use the money to get drunk two days later.
Letlala, Khumalo and four other men are accused of killing Attie Potgieter, his wife Wilna and their two-year-old daughter Wilmien in December.
Potgieter was hacked and stabbed to death. His wife and daughter were shot.
