Arrest warrants have been issued for KwaZulu-Natal parliamentary speaker Peggy Nkonyeni and provincial Economic Development and Tourism MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga confirmed that the warrants have been issued, but says they have not yet been carried out.

The pair faces charges of fraud and corruption relating to a one-million-Rand donation paid by South American businessman Gaston Savoi to the ANC in 2007.

It is believed that the donation was used to secure a 45-million-Rand government tender. The provincial office of the ANC declined to comment on the arrest warrants.
