A non-striking member of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa has been hospitalised after being beaten up by strikers at a factory in Boksburg.

There have been numerous reports of strikers turning violent, but unions taking part in the strike have denied that their members are involved.

Workers are calling for a 13% wage increase and the banning of labour brokers.

This latest victim of strike violence reportedly suffered a brain haemorrhage and has now slipped into a coma.
