Eastern Cape police are investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and arson after a 67-year-old woman and her 35-year-old son were killed in attacks on two homes in East London in which the community believed witchcraft was being practiced.
Four people, including a 16-year-old boy, were wounded in the attacks in Slovo Park.
The victims were stabbed and the homes set alight.
Ironically, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa is in Uitenhage today to deal with the recent surge in mob justice and the necklacing of criminals in the Eastern Cape.
In other news from the Eastern Cape is that some East London residents were trapped in their cars and homes this morning due to heavy rains and flooding.
Disaster management are responding to calls for help but says no reports of deaths or injuries have so far been received.
Port Elizabeth is also experiencing heavy rain and strong winds.
