The first municipal ward by-election after this year’s municipal election will take place on Wednesday.
The Independent Electoral Commission has confirmed that 17 wards in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape are scheduled for by-elections, of which one is uncontested. Voting stations will be open from seven in the morning till seven in the evening.
The IEC says voters who need more information on the by-elections should contact their local Municipal Electoral Officer during office hours or visit the IEC’s website at www.elections.org.za.
