Chief justice nominee Mogoeng Mogoeng was challenged on several fronts during his interview at a special sitting of the Judicial Services Committee in Cape Town yesterday.
He was questioned on his intellectual capacity, accused of arrogance and at one stage, had to apologise to the JSC's chair, deputy chief justice Dikgang Moseneke, for accusing him of being sarcastic.
The sparring with Moseneke, who many regard as the ideal candidate for the job, caused IFP MP Koos van der Merwe to ask Mogoeng if he had a short temper. The hearing continues today.
