Early on Wednesday morning a taxi accident occurred on the Aberdeen Road in the Eastern Cape.
The taxi was travelling from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape.
Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said the driver lost control of the taxi and six people died in the accident.
The six fatalities included three men and three women.
Africa said seven other passengers were seriously injured, including a seven-year-old child.
He added that another three children were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
