The Congress of South African Trade Unions joins the people of South Africa, Africa and the world in sending their thoughts and prayers to one of the greatest icons that the continent of Africa has produced, Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela has been in an undisclosed hospital for six days, for treatment of a recurring lung infection.

Cosatu shop steward Vusi Bhengu said he had been an inspiration to apartheid.

Bhengu added that Mandela was a pillar of the strength and able to mobilize leadership.

Bhengu further added that as Cosatu we wish him a speedy recovery.
