KwaZulu Natal police on Wednesday issued a stern warning to the public not to report a false case to the police knowing that they are false.

This is after a 37-year-old man was arrested for claiming that his vehicle was stolen, but after investigation it was established that the vehicle was not stolen.

Colonel Jay Naicker has issued a stern warning to the public that whoever that is caught reporting false cases will be dealt with accordingly.

He added that such incidents interfere with the police’s work, because the resources that should be used in genuine cases but they end up used for false cases and the sentence given the culprit may serve as a deterrent to anyone thinking of doing the same thing.
