The South African Social Security Agency today said about 450,000 social grant beneficiaries have failed to re-register.

Beneficiaries had until Wednesday to re-register with SASSA, now this means those that did not register will have their grants suspended from Friday.

SASSA Spokesperson Kgomoco Diseko said that if there are people who haven’t re- registered, they will not receive it from the 01 August 2013 onwards.

“What beneficiaries of social grants needs to do if they are in that situation they need to go to their SASSA offices immediately with whatever documentation that is required for example birth certificate of children, in case of child grant and ID documents, “added Diseko.

He furthermore explains that these people need to present themselves to SASSA offices and explain the reasons why they have not managed to re- register after they have been given four months extension to re-register.
