The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape today said it is saddened and outraged by the brutal rape of the two children in Ceres.

A four-month-old baby girl and a seven-year-old boy were sexually assaulted on a farm in the area.

Cosatu’s provincial secretary Tony Ehrenreich said these kinds of attacks on woman and children are becoming a scourge on our society and its time that a strong message is sent.

Ehrenreich said Cosatu calls on communities to hunt down the perpetrators and hand them over to the police and ensure that harshest sentences are imposed to perpetrators because they are tearing apart our society.
