Lieutenant-General Mzwandile Petros’ dismisses allegations of resignation

The South African Police Service today said it has noted various media reports regarding the Lieutenant-General Mzwandile Petros’ term of office as Gauteng Provincial Commissioner.

SAPS have confirmed that the reports are wrong and Petros’ has not resigned.

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said that they can confirm the fact that General Petros announced that his contract with the SAPS is about to come to an end.

“In fact the contract ends on the 15th of August 2013 and the matter at hand is that the national commissioner as well as General Petros are in discussions about his contract and other matters,” added Makgale.

He also said that General Riah Phiyega will make an announcement in this regard in the near future.
