Eskom's fibre fault sees delay in restoration in W.Cape

If load shedding wasn’t bad enough, Eskom has announced that it is that it is experiencing a major fibre fault affecting the remote switching capabilities to various substations in the Western Cape, including parts of the Overberg, Boland and the larger Cape Metropole area.

The beleaguered parastatal said that while some sites have been restored, customers can expect a delay in restoration especially after loadshedding slots.

‘’Customers can expect delays with restoration as we manage the operational impact of this major fibre network fault. The fault is being attended to by Eskom National Telecommunication and Field Services teams,’’ said Eskom in a statement.

To make matters worse, Eskom said there is no estimated time of restoration as a result of the magnitude of the fault.
