The City of Cape Town’s Metro police arrested several suspects for a range of different offences in the past three months.
The offences include
possession of illegal firearms, imitation firearms, dangerous weapons, and possession
of drugs and ammunition.
The officers work with
the South African Police Services, Neighbourhood Watches and Community Policing
Forums.
The city’s JP Smith
says residents should work together with the enforcement by making personal
decisions which will benefit the community as a collective.
“In the past week
alone, during general enforcement patrols, metro police officers arrested 47
suspects, including three for driving under the influence. Other arrests
included contact, property, commercial, drug and firearm-related offences.
Officers also issued 3 796 fines,” the City reported.
