The
Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal has welcomed the seizure of some of the assets of Durban business couple S'bu Mpisane and his wife Shauwn.
The
seizure by the Assets Forfeiture Unit follows investigations by the Hawks into
allegations that Mpisane fraudently secured contracts valued at R140 million
from the Department of Public Works.
Mpisane is
also facing fraud charges for allegedly submitting false invoices to SARS.
The IFP
Caucus Chairperson Mdu Nkosi said the Leaders of the Ethekwini Municipality did not a vision, because there was no way they
could have given such a lot of money to a company that has a lot of problems.
Nkosi added that there must have been kickbacks involved.
Mpisane was arrested today and is
expected to appear in court soon to apply for bail.
