The African Christian Democratic
Party Member of Parliament Cherrylyn Duddley on Tuesday said the people of South
Africa are frustrated
that it is taking too long to deliver improved education.
She was speaking during the Basic
Education Budget in the National Assembly.
Keeno Peterson said the governments’
mantra of doing more with less, has become do more with more in the case of DBE
as under spending and a lack of delivery has been a problem particularly in the
sense of infrastructure backlogs.
“In the last financial year; the
Department received R2.3 billion to replace 496 schools and provide 1 257 schools
with water, 878 with electricity and 868 schools with sanitation” Peterson
added.
