Black Sash celebrates International Covenant on Economy

Black Sash is today celebrating the entry into force of the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social Cultural Rights. 

Black Sash says this marks the beginning of a new dawn in the enforcement of socio-economic rights at the international level, with positive impacts at the national level. 

Advocacy Manager of Black Sash Elroy Paulus said International Covenant on Economic, Social Cultural Rights is international agreement that was signed by the former President Nelson Mandela back in 1996.

Paulus added that this week the celebrations are aimed giving the citizens an opportunity to participate in United Nations.
