Business Innovation discussion held in Cape Town

Businesspeople across Africa today gathered at the University of Cape Town business School for the Innovation Prize for Africa.

The delegates discussed ways to alleviate poverty in Africa through business.

The Africa Innovation Foundation has helped to establish many businesses in Africa, in various sectors.

Ashley Uys the founder of Medical Diagnostech said Africa Innovation can fuel jobs and economic growth.

This roundtable discussion precedes the World Economic Forum to be held in Cape Town this week.

Francois Bonnici the Director at the University of Cape Town Business School said their institution is privileged to be part of the Africa Innovation and with hard work and determination anything is possible.

The Director of Innovate Lagos Moji Rhodes said Africa has the potential to overcome the problems of poverty and diseases if Africans come together and motivate each other.

Rhodes added that there are still challenges that the continent needs to overcome, the issue of trust between the investor and the innovator.

Africa Innovation helps people to develop their ideas and put to practise, mainly focussing on Agriculture, Health and Wellbeing, Environment, Energy and Water.

The Roundtable discussion will be followed by the Innovation Prize Awards. Three out of ten Innovators will be awarded for their successful businesses in different secures.

Jean-Claude Bastos de Morais, co-founder of African Innovation Foundation said Africans need to work together to better their continent.
